A practice plan

  1. Both scores must come from one sitting, your most recent: practise until you reach 7.5 overall in full mocks, not in separate skills.
  2. Aim for 7.5 or more in each skill in practice, so one weak paper on the day still leaves you at 7.0.
  3. Writing and Speaking are where 7.0 is lost: check every essay against the criteria and record full Speaking tests.
  4. Missed 7.0 in one skill? On IELTS on computer, a One Skill Retake within 60 days of the full test counts, once.

Questions

Can I combine scores from two IELTS tests for the GMC?

No. Both the 7.5 overall and the 7.0 in each skill must come from the same test, your most recent one. The only exception is a One Skill Retake.

Does the GMC accept a One Skill Retake?

Yes, once, for the one skill below 7.0: the full test must have been IELTS on computer at a centre that offers the retake, and the retake taken within 60 days of it.

How long is an IELTS result valid for the GMC?

Two years. For PLAB 1 it must be valid on the day of the exam; for registration, on the day the GMC approves your application.

How much does IELTS cost in Bangladesh?

IDP Bangladesh lists IELTS on Computer (Academic or General Training) at BDT 31,100 and IELTS for UKVI at BDT 34,850, and a One Skill Retake at BDT 18,600. Check the current fee when you book.
